MySQL / MariaDB
World's Most Popular Open Source DB Server
MySQL is the world's most popular database management system due to its reliability, ease of use and performance. MySQL is the database server of choice for the new generation of web applications built with the most popular programming environments. Some of the largest, and fastest growing companies rely on MySQL for their mission critical applications. eApps® provides outstanding support for MySQL hosting in both our Virtual Cloud Server platform (VCS), and our Platform as a Service (PaaS).
Made by the original developers of MySQL, MariaDB is a drop in replacement for MySQL. MariaDB is a community developed fork of MySQL, launched in October of 2009, about a year and a half after Oracle acquired MYSQL AB. The MariaDB Foundation, which sponsors the project, pledges that MariaDB will always remain free under the GNU GPL, and will be backward compatible with MySQL. MariaDB offers additional capabilities when compared to MySQL, including broader storage engine support, a number of extensions and additional features, and boasts better performance and higher quality than MySQL. eApps® supports MariaDB on both platforms.
Depending on deployment choice, MariaDB or MySQL are either installed by default, or can be installed easily with an administrative interface. This automated approach ensures that your database server is installed and configured properly. We provide user guides for deploying your application and connecting to the MySQL database server. We also provide outstanding 24/7 support to help you achieve success. You also have the ability to install a wide variety of applications including development tools, frameworks, application servers, content management systems, media servers, mail tools, and more via an easy to use control panel.

For information purposes, references to MySQL also implies MariaDB, as both are supported by eApps. Our approach to MySQL hosting is to provide a highly customizable environment, the tools you need for administration, and knowledgeable support staff to assist you when needed. The result is a superior MySQL database hosting environment that fits your needs.

performance, disk speed, network throughput are
key factors when choosing your provider. It is

About MySQL and MariaDB
MySQL was released in 1985 and now has millions of deployments. It’s success was fueled by free usage terms under the GNU General Public License. MySQL was originally sponsored by MySQL AB, a Swedish commercial firm, which was acquired in 2008 by Oracle Corporation. A commercial license, with support is available from Oracle. The codebase for the open source version and the commercial version are identical. MariaDB is a binary compatible drop in replacement for MySQL, launched in 2009. It is the default database server on most versions of Linux. Adoption of MariaDB has increased steadily since inception.
As implied by its name, MySQL supports ANSI SQL 99, with extensions. The database server also includes a full set of features that are required for enterprise grade use, including stored procedures, triggers, updatable views, two phase commit transaction processing, SSL support, query caching, and powerful indexing features. High availability features are also present including clustering, replication and hot backup. A distinguishing feature of MySQL is the support of multiple storage engines. Developers can choose the optimal storage engine for each table in their application, allowing the potential to achieve impressive performance results.
