Maintenance Report
HSP Upgrade- We are pleased to report that we have successfully completed our update to HSP (Hosting Service Provider) Version 3.3.  This is a big upgrade to the systems we use to run the hosting operation, including the Control Panel. We are still working with our vendor on some post upgrade issues, but hope to have them resolved soon.  This upgrade will allow us to implement many new features that will improve your hosting service including speeding up the control panel and even significant improvements to the VPS environment itself. Announcements related to these improvements will be coming out soon. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience as we work steadily to improve your service. Rest assured that we will perform all maintenance activities in such a manner as to minimize the impact on your service.

Data Center Provider Maintenance Events - We have had a greater than normal number of maintenance announcements related to maintenance activity of our upstream data center provider, Quality Technology Services (QTS - http://www.qualitytech.com). This is due to the fact that they are expanding the power and bandwidth in the data center. With two exceptions over the past six months, these maintenance events have resulted in minimal impact on our customer's service. We are working with our vendor to ensure that they are doing everything they can to ensure that our service is operational during their maintenance events. One open issue that we are working with them is the timing of their maintenance events. Due to contractual obligations, QTS performs maintenance in the early morning hours, Eastern Time, on Tuesdays. Whenever possible, eApps Hosting performs maintenance events on the weekends. We are doing everything we can to make our voice heard to QTS regarding the optimization of the timing of their maintenance events.

Next Scheduled Maintenance Event - We will be upgrading the hardware used to run the Control Panel on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 12:00AM. This maintenance event will not impact the operation of your site! The Control Panel will be unavailable during the maintenance window, which we estimate will have a duration of 3 hours.

Tech Tips
Working with Domains - With our new version of the Control Panel, working with domains is easier, especially if you have multiple VPS subscriptions in your account. There is no longer the concept of a default domain for a VPS. You can map any of your domains to any VPS that you have using the domain manager on the System tab. Just add a domain, or click on an existing domain. Then click the Edit button. You will see a drop down list called “Used by Subscription.” Just choose what VPS “subscription” you want to associate the domain with by selecting it from the drop down list. You can also specify whether you want to use eApps DNS Hosting or external DNS hosting. Check the box next to DNS Hosting to use the eApps DNS servers. If you need to change the “System” name for your VPS, just send an email to support@eapps.com and include the VPS subscription you want to rename and what you want to rename it to.

Adding an Alias - The new version of the Control Panel also allows you to add a Server alias more easily. A server alias is used when you want another domain to resolve to an existing site. For example, if your domain is mysiterocks.com and you also want thissiterocks.net to resolve to your site, you can add thissiterocks.net as a Server Alias. Just add the domain to your VPS using the Domain Manager on the System tab. Then click on your Site tab and click Website Settings. From there, click on the Server Alias tab. Then click the Add Alias button and select your domain from the drop down list. Be sure to check the box next to “www” so that you map both the base form and the www form of your domain.
