Overselling in the Hosting Industry
Perhaps you've seen deals like this before: 50 GB of space for $2! 1000GB of traffic for FREE! These unrealistic metrics are the result of unscrupulous hosting companies trying to squeeze every possible bit of profit from their servers. The idea is that since most customers only use a fraction of the resources allocated to them, it is possible to take a gamble and offer more resources than what is physically possible to deliver. Unsuspecting customers do not realize that there are many downsides to this, such as increased page loading times and frequent server crashes. Many hosting providers simply shut a customer's service off for breaking the fine print in their terms of service (not in terms of traffic or disk space, but CPU and memory).

In the current industry "arms race", everyone is scrambling to offer more disk space or bandwidth than the next guy, even if it doesn't make sense to do so. At eApps, we don't believe in such manipulation. Customers can always find providers willing to offer more disk and data transfer. At eApps we continuously try to improve the value of our offering. Our resources are guaranteed to be available. But we never oversell, and instead focus on providing superior service and customer support, which end up being more important to most customers than unrealistic bandwidth or disk space promises.
Tech Tip
Adding a Site to Your VPS
The only thing limiting how many websites you can have running on your virtual private server is resources. You can use your control panel, and these simple steps, to add multiple sites to your system.

To add a new site:

1) Login to your control panel and click the Site tab.

2) On the left hand menu, click the link called Add Site

3) Add a new domain or subdomain of your existing domain

After creating the site, you will want to add a server alias for the new domain, so that, for example, if someone enters "www.your-domain.com" it will also go to your-domain.com.

To add an alias:

4) Go to the System tab, click the Domains icon under Domain Management

5) Select the domain you just added when creating the new site

6) On the next screen, click the New Hostname button

7) Add the "www" then click OK.

8) Next click the Site tab, and make sure the site you just created is selected in the menu on the left.

9) Under Website Management, click Website Settings, then from the General Settings tab click the Configure button at the bottom.

10) Check the Server Alias boxes for the "your-domain.com" and "www.your-domain.com". Hit the Update button at bottom. And that's it.

New Versions of PHP, MySQL Released

PHP --  eApps, and the PHP development team are pleased to announce the release of PHP 5.2.0. This release is a major improvement in the 5.X series, which includes a large number of new features, bug fixes and security enhancements. Specifics on the improvements are detailed in the changelog found here. We also recommend that you read the release notes before upgrading.
