However, some of our customers are extremely sensitive to availability and/or capacity issues. Their needs fall into two categories.
High Availability Needs - For some sites, even a short outage to repair or replace equipment can have a significant negative impact for the site owner. These sites are typically high volume commerce sites or sites that run a heavily used business process supporting many users.
Peak Capacity Needs - Other sites have a unique need With respect to capacity. While these sites are sensitive to availability, they also have a requirement to handle a volatile usage pattern. These sites can have significant peaks in usage requiring a sizable buffer of unused capacity to handle peak loads.
For customers that are extremely sensitive to outages and high usage peaks, we offer the high availability clustered solution. A cluster allows for a site or application to be run on multiple VPS or dedicated servers using separate physical servers. In the event that there is a hardware failure on one of the physical servers, the site is not impacted because of the redundancy of spreading the processing across multiple physical servers.
